Active Release Technique™ for Soft Tissue Management (ART)

What is it?

This is a highly advance form of care for soft tissue management systems for muscle, ligaments, tendons, fascia and nerves. It is based on more than 500 treatment protocols for these structures in the body. It has great success and the response time in most cases is immediate. Even if people have tried different therapies already, physiotherapy, massage, drugs or even chiropractic which has not resolved the injury, ART can fix the problem and thus many times avoiding unnecessary surgery or retirement.

It is continuing to gain popularity in the U.S. and now starting to reach Europe and Scandinavia due to its success rate. Due to its patent only licensed health care professions who hold current certification in ART are allowed to be an ART practitioner.

What conditions does it treat?

In general terms it treats overuse injuries, which occur 3 different ways;

  • acute conditions such as a pull, tear or trauma
  • accumulation of small tears referred to as ‘micro traumas’
  • not getting enough oxygen to the tissues

Examples of these injuries are numerous, but here are a few; tennis elbow, head aches, rotator cuff, shin splints, carpal tunnel syndrome, runner’s knee, etc…

What is the treatment like?

ART is not a magic bullet or cure-all. Active Release Techniques is noninvasive, very safe, and has virtually no side effects and comes with a record of very good results. Treatments can be uncomfortable during the movement phases as the scar tissue or adhesions "break up". This is temporary and subsides almost immediately after the treatment. It is common to feel a duplication of your symptoms during the treatment, a good indication that the problem has been identified. Treatments are about 8-10 minutes per area treated and results typically are felt or demonstrated immediate.

Taking ART one step further!
